Another group got the opportunity for a Wednesday Walkabout today - we walked right around the village, looking at all the colours on the trees, we talked about 'evergreen' and 'deciduous' and decided which trees would come under which category... It's was lovely to hear the little ones trying to pronounce 'DECIDUOUS'!!!
We walked all along the back of the park and found some lovely sticks (everybody needs to have a stick when you are on a walk!), some where long, some were short, some were small, and some were just too big to fit in our pockets! They made some lovely sounds as they were dragged along the railings around the park - so lovely we had to walk around twice! (and the child without a stick used their hand - and that was good too!)
Back in pre-school, the children explored all the sounds that they could make with the musical instruments, such a great range, banging, shaking, blowing, rattling, loud and soft.......
The children also decided that while some were off on their Wednesday Walkabout the other children could be baking something delicisous to share at snack time! What a great idea - I wonder what we'll make first??
Our lovely new room divider arrived this afternoon, which we will use to create a Quiet Corner where a small group can 'retire' with an adult for some more focussed activities where the other children will know not to disturb them.
