The children had great fun this morning, watching the birds through the pre-school window. We weren't too sure whether we would get very many bird in our little garden, being so close to where the children play (and sometimes a little bit noisy!) however, we saw lots of birds and some of them came up very close!! The idea of the birdwatch is to count the maximum number of birds landing in your garden at any one time (so as not to double count any) and this is what we saw....
a carrot, a chair, a parrot (oh yes we did!), Marion, Katharine, 2 footballs, a melted snowman....
The children enjoyed using the binocular and telescope to watch the birds and we talked a
We have a great day today - Bea (pronounced Bayer) joined the children and was an instant hit (well done Bea!), playing games, puzzles and building with the blocks. She was great fun and I'm sure she will be a valued member of the team.
Outside was cold but a worthwhile exploration as we attempted to crack the ice, release the frozen spades, make 'slush' and icebergs! It was also super fun making footprints, following tracks and drawing patterns with the hoops!
Most of our water play took place in the warm - where the animals where hooked, caught and of course, released back into the tray.
We have be fortunate to receive a fantastic set of Community Playthings blocks for use with the children and so these continued to be a hit this afternoon. Block play is a wonderful way to incorporate all aspects of their learning and we thank the OCC for allow us this extra opportunity!!
More of the same tomorrow! See you then!!
Simon the Magic Train is back to take us on more adventures! on Thursday we travelled to the North Pole - the children had a lovely time, although it was very cold!! Do have a look at the photographs showing some fantastic movements, positions and of course, listening to instructions!!
What an exciting start! We began the morning by playing in the snow, throwing snowballs at the staff, making snowmen, snowdogs, making patterns, and lots more!! See the photographs here to see exactly what we got up to....
Meanwhile, birthday cakes were being made..... counting games..... lego..... cutting out..... blocks, towers, and pathways....
This afternoon, the children made some lovely pictures using the tap-a-shapes wooden shapes and nails, discussing safety and using the hammers with control.
Most of the children have now contributed to our 'Gallery' so do take some time to have a look at their space.... (the children will now choose what pieces of artwork they would like dispalyed!)
We also had a lunchtime of 'Sticky Kids' with some lovely moving!!
