The weather looked a little dodgy first thing this morning..... but I think we were lucky in the end.
The children were fantastic and were all so excited when it was their turn to race. With very little chance to actually practice, all went swimmingly, and I think everyone enjoyed themself, including those mums and dads who took to the course (without a single streak of competitivenesss..... or not!)
Thank you to everyone who came this morning, we hope you had a great time. I've posted some photographs for you to look at, showing the children and adults in action! But if you have any great shots of your own, we would love a copy, please e:mail them to firstname.lastname@example.org
Final preparations are underway for our super Summer Dance - TONIGHT - please don't rain!!!
Have fun and enjoy the rest of the weekend. Only 14 more pre-school days left for this year........
Thr emails started early and as the morning started so did the phonecalls! I think we can safely say that we have an outbreak of chicken pox..... 7 off today - its going to be a quiet week! although not too quiet as we were visited by 2 dads joining us to play. Both had a great time joining the children in the hall for Sticky Kids and on the carpet with the cars. The children were fantastic today given their small numbers, we will keep you posted on our news this week! Keep an eye out for spots.....
Well, the weather was kind, the company fantastic, the children wonderful and the picnics yummy!! I hope a good day was had by everyone!
After a slight detour..... we arrived at the park to begin a day of fun! Having unloaded our bags into the Pavillion, then outside for a game of football.... football? football? anyone? No - off to the amazing play area with curly slides, big swings, basket swings, climbing, ropes and so much more! This kept the children happy for a little while before we stopped for a little 'welcome' .... and who should come and see us but Peppa Pig!!!!
Fancy that!! Peppa was so kind and brought us a cake to celebrate her birthday - and balloons!! She even stopped so everyone could get a photograph!!
Back to the Pavillion for cake and a cup of tea. Thank you so much to Edward's grandmother, Jenny who kindly made us some gorgeous cakes! And also to Louisa (who couldn't join us today due to a poorly child!) for her 'grown up' cakes and sponge. Also, we must give Natasha a mention - she was required to hold the fort in our brilliant village shop, so was also unable to join us. You were both missed!
After a short break, it was back outside where some children returned to the play area, whilst others explored the sand pit, digging, making sandcastles and sand angels (and there are pictures!) as well as another huge slide with swing bridges!! - it was higher than it looked!!).
It was so relaxing and enjoyable I think everyone stayed in this area until lunchtime, and after, when we went to feed the ducks.... and oh, the ducklings were so cute!
Back to collects bits and bags before heading home.
All that fresh air, running around must have been exhausing - well it was for me!!
We all hope you had a great day, away from work or home. It was just fantastic to spend the day out, watching the child play and have such fun. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!!
Nicky, Marion and Katharine.
The children have mostly settled back well and we have all had an enjoyable week so far.... Football fever has reached the preschool and we hope you like our plans! we arranged something similar with the Olympic Torch and were delighted when it travelled around 30+ houses without a single mistake :-) Football crafts are underway as well as many activities involving balls... including marbles in paint. some beautiful pictures were created which will soon go on display.
There is always lots to do in the last term of the school year as we ptepare reports, Learning Journeys and make all our arrangements for our'leavers'. if you are unsure about anything we have planned please do ask...
Lots of the children have been playing 'picnics' so let's hope for some nice warm weather to go along with the food!
