Goodness me!! Given the excitement in pre-school today, I can only imagine what it will be like by the 25th!!
The morning was a great success and the children all appeared to enjoy themselves and have fun - and that is the main thing! They all looked so wonderful in their costumes and were happy to be on stage showing off their months (yes really!!) of practicing and rehearsing.
We hope you had as much fun as we did!!
All the children were so well behaved today, and we played musical statues and saw some really funky dancing!! The food was amazing - thank you to everyone who contributed....
Santa's visit was delightful - please check out the photos here - and although he forgot he sleighbells they have been sent by first-class directly back to the North Pole, ready for Christmas day - and fear not! I've had a special word with those in Marcham Village Shop and they have promised they will arrive on time!!
Thank you all once again - a very special and memorable day. Enjoy a restful, peaceful and fun Christmas and we all look forward to more in the New Year!!
Isn’t it amazing how quickly the days go? Only 20 days until Christmas!!
This week has been a busy, eventful and creative one!!
On Monday we joined the Cubs in the hall for Simon the Magic Train (see photographs) – hopefully this will become a regular event and we will share our resources to provide the children with dancing, active and imaginative play – just right to start the week!
After snack we used all the natural items found during the treasure hunt to make a picture of….. a pirate ship!! This started some lovely discussions about pirates, leaves, shapes, colours, textures, and 101 uses for a stick. In the afternoon we decorated our
On Tuesday lots of the group made birthday cakes….. with sand, and pots and plates from the home corner! We stirred, spooned, baked, timed, tested, and served these cakes – all the while singing the appropriate song – loudly…… We had a wonderful time, we even found some sticks for candles.
On Wednesday he ate through THREE plums… oh no – that’s a different story……
On Thursday we were awash with glue, glitter and all things sparkly! Christmas has well and truly arrived. In the afternoon, we made a hammock from a play parachute and the children took turns to have a swing!
On Friday, (already??) we will be starting with some Wake Up, Shake Up following by…… well we won’t know until the children decide! Child-initiated activities are often
the ones that grab their interest and enthusiasm, they provide the seed and before you know it a tree of an idea has grown!
Sunday saw the children out
Searching for Treasure hid
Like ribbons, rings and a pirate patch
To return to Capt'n Kidd
Along the way our brave young souls
Were searching high and low
For leaves and stones and twigs and flowers
For Capt'n Kidd to show
Clues were laid out on the route
With answers hidden well
Written down to prove we'd been
And to Capt'n Kidd we'll tell
When all was done and finished
The pirates safe and sound
Returned to base for a cup of tea
And show Capt'n Kidd what we'd found
Thanks to Peter for all his work
Hurrah and a pirate cheer
A fabulour time was had by all
(Will you do it again next year?)
And a big thank you to everyone who supported the Pre-school today, with preparations, organising and serving refreshments.
And a huge thanks to Capt'n Kidd for such enthusiasm!!
