What a great start to the term! The children has been busy with lots of exploration already and the emerging themes appear to be picnics, shapes, and autumn investigations.
Yesterday, one of the children brought in a beautiful leaf, and after all having a look, we went outside to see what else we could find...... a range of colours, sizes and sticks completed our collection and provided for some interesting discussions and maths opportunities.
Today, we went on a mouse hunt - very quietly, sshhhhh, creeping around the playground looking for signs of a mouse, we looked under the bench, we looked by the bikes, we looked in the tyres, in the Reception classroom, and in the crates.... we then got a little distracted building towers and balancing!! And then we found the mouse!!!
The children then decided to made him a house using blocks, boxes (don't forget the tissue to keep him warm).
We asked the children to think about good names for a mouse - then decided on Mousey!
Then a black cat appeared in the playground (yes, it was a real one!) which we named Ginger..... and a worm, named Sarah......
I wonder what other 'hunts' we could go on..... a rabbit, a flower, a bird, a worm - or a Treasure Hunt!! Don't forget our event on 1st December....
