Here is a snapshot of our week!!
On Monday – we made pictures and patterns using craft matchsticks. This was a great
introduction to ‘mark-making’, and visual discrimination (seeing the difference). We also went for a row down the stream, saw a crocodile and then fell into the water!!
I think the children liked the splashing bit best!!
On Tuesday – we had a magical, under-the-sea theme in the water tray. The children explored a range of textured shells, stones and animals – the glitter just added that extra ‘sparkle’!
On Wednesday – we retold the story of ‘Monkey Puzzle’ using our story sack. The children each took on a ‘character’ and listened out for their role in the story, happy to hold up their particular toy and join in by guessing which animal the butterfly has seen.
On Thursday – we had lots of toy food, kitchen equipment and had a picnic in the garden. The
children have also been exploring the block play – fantastic for all areas of
On Friday – the giant block came out and we made a walkway which
the children moved around taking turns beautifully. In the afternoon, we went onto the school field and acted out ‘we’re
going on a bear hunt’ which will be a focus for next week.
Another exciting and varied week.
