Welcome back to everyone after the half-term – I hope you managed to make the most of whatever sunshine we had!
It’s been a busy start to the week and set to be a very busy term.
On Monday some of the older children experienced our woodworking bench – with REAL tools!!! This started of course with a safety talk, then on with the goggles and then lots of banging, sawing and nailing. Each child chose the shapes they needed for their creation – and the results are on show at pre-school. This is one of our more time consuming activities, and as it requires a low adult:child ratio it may takes some weeks before everyone gets an opportunity to have a go, – so patience is needed, but we really hope that all the children will have a chance to participate should they wish to.
Also this week….. the dark den has been out and enjoyed by everyone! Shall we fill it with children? or cars? or play food? or musical instruments? Who knows?? Will you climb through the door or the window? Can you be as quiet as a mouse and hide in here?
We have enjoyed lots of outdoor play so far this week and the children have been learning to sort and arrange. Transporting has also been a popular activity and we have been seeing who can fit the most objects into the wheelbarrow.
We have been singing some older favourite songs that haven’t been heard for a while, which has made a lovely change – we are also planning to introduce an even wider range – together with some signing hand actions! Once we have practiced a small selection we will post the actions for you so that you can join in at home.
